Newspapers Spur Web Traffic
From EMarketer.com
APRIL 24, 2008

Newspapers are driving significant Web traffic and online search activity, according to an
October 2007 Clark, Martire & Bartolomeo study, sponsored by Google.

Among US newspaper readers who also use the Internet, 56% of respondents had either
purchased or researched a product seen in a newspaper in the past month.

Though there was overlap, 42% of respondents had purchased a product they had seen in a
newspaper within the past month and 44% had researched a product.

Of the 44% who researched a product, 67% went online to do so, 48% visited a store, 23%
asked a friend and 23% called a store.

Within the 67% who researched online, 47% went directly to a URL they saw in the
advertisement, while 31% went to a search engine and 22% visited a shopping site or
something else.
